In addition to making labels from
fast-growing, renewable resources, you can also use
fiber that has been previously used by consumers and
turned into paper (Post Consumer Waste, or PCW). Action
Packaging can offer PCW products that are designed to
help you reduce the load placed on our landfills and
maximize forest resources
Eco-Friendly Biodegradable Label
Stock
Action
Packaging Systems, Inc. can offer several face stocks that
meet ASTM D6400 standards and are certified by the
Biodegradable Products Institute. These products are
designed to compost quickly, completely and safely,
without leaving any plastic residues.
PLA
– Made from corn, a renewable resource, EarthFirst® PLA
film is a primary label film face stock available in 1.6
mil clear and 2.0 mil white versions.
Acetate
– Get a versatile label film from a renewable resource.
A 2.0 mil clear Acetate sheet is made from wood, a
natural and renewable resource sourced only from managed
forestry. Acetate is designed to compost quickly,
completely and safely without leaving behind any plastic
residue. It meets ASTM D6400 compostability standards
and is certified by the Biodegradable Products
Institute. This material is a strong film that’s easily
die-cut. Strength properties similar to paper make it
suitable for primary labels. Its easy tear
characteristics make it perfect for the production of
security labels and tamper-evident seals. The high
transparency, good clarity and printability of Acetate
make it an attractive choice for “no label look”
applications.
Recycling Compatible Adhesives
Paper labels with Recycling Compatible Adhesives,
applied to a paper substrate, can be processed without
problems during recycling operations. This allows items
such as envelopes, catalogs, and office paper containing
pressure sensitive paper labels to be recycled.
Action Packaging offers
several Recycling Compatible
Adhesives that meet the Tag and Label Manufacturers
Institute testing protocol RCA LRP 2v5. By
utilizing environmentally-benign adhesives (EBAs),
tested by the USPS and certified as compatible with the
paper recycling process. These adhesives also meet the
Recycling Compatible Adhesive (RCA) standard.
760S
– A general purpose permanent adhesive 548S – A hard repositionable adhesive
Feature adhesives that can be cleanly
removed from containers, along with their facestocks.
This facilitates container reuse and/or easy separation
from the recycling stream.
Environmental Friendly Options
40#
Natural Kraft Liner (40NK) eliminates the bleaching
process. It is an environmentally-friendly alternative
that doesn’t sacrifice die-cutting and stripping
performance. This is a general purpose, super-calendered kraft liner
that can be used with a variety of facestocks including
primary label and variable information papers and films.
How about a Tree-Free paper
facestocks made from bamboo, bagasse and cotton linters.
To help you lower your impact on the environment, Action
Packaging can offer products made from renewable
resources, which are replenished more quickly than
traditional inputs like wood.
Forest Conservation
Without proper forest management,
the paper industry is threatened, as well as wildlife,
plants, soil, and water quality. Two organizations, the
Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the
Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC), are working to ensure
proper management of timber resources. Use of SFI and
FSC certified paper grades helps conserve forests for
the future. Action Packaging offers a number of
certified grades of paper.
Reducing Our Carbon Footprint as a
Company
We
were looking for a method to better dispose of our
non-recyclable materials. IPP offered us the most
cost-effective way to remove items like shrink wrap,
foil, label stock, adhesives, and even plastic water
bottles from our facility while, more importantly,
providing us a avenue to focus on being more
environmentally aware.
International Paper Products Corporation has engineered an innovative, economical and morally responsible solution to some of our world's energy and environmental challenges. IPP manufactures an alternative biomass fuel product (Enviro-Fuelcubes®) that assists in the development of localized energy independence through the responsible diversion of indigenous raw materials, creating the opportunity for fossil fuel avoidance. Responsibly utilizing valuable Specification Raw Materials (SRM®) for the manufacturing of a clean biomass fuel will create waste avoidance, additional recycling opportunities and landfill conservation.
Enviro-Fuelcubes® are
manufactured from indigenous feedstock defined as
Specification Raw Materials (SRM®) including
but not limited to: grass-like materials, switch grass,
vegetation, leaves, yard debris, agricultural crops,
classified materials, wood, tree bark, pallets, paper,
coated paper, laminated paper, waxed paper, fiber,
textiles, fabrics, cardboard, chip-board, short fiber,
non-halogenated plastics, films, polymers, milk
containers, wax, and other combustible materials that
meet Enviro-Fuelcubes® Chemical and Physical
Limits.
Action Packaging has partnered with IPP and is currently
turning over our generated indigenous feedstock
materials for remanufacturing into Enviro-Fuelcubes®.
In another move to help reduce unwanted materials in our
landfills, we have switched our Styrofoam cup
usage, company wide, to either paper or reusable mugs.
Corporate Social Responsibility Action Packaging will continue
to explore new and alternative ways of improving not
only our manufacturing environment but the environment
as a whole. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
We can all do our part by staying informed.
