There are three basic categories of ribbons, Wax, Wax Resin, and Resin.   Most applications fall within these types.   

• Wax ribbons are for general use and work well with our stock thermal transfer blank labels.
  Ideal for high speed and/or high volume opportunities. Increased sensitivity for clean, crisp imaging. Clean, durable and dense image transfer.  Perfect for almost any wax thermal transfer applications.

Recommended substrates for wax ribbons
Coated/uncoated paper, synthetic paper, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyolefin, Kimdura®, Valeron®, Polyart®
 
• Wax/Resin ribbons have a higher adhesion to a variety of label stocks like semi-gloss, coated surfaces, etc.
.  Wax/Resin ribbons are very unique in formulation and function. The most critical quality of a wax/resin ribbon should posses is the ability to print on a broad array of substrates.  Extensive label adaptability expanding application options. Remarkably low print energy used to create high quality bar codes. Extreme abrasion and solvent resistance. High speed printing up to 12 IPS.

• Resin ribbons are for printing on films or UV’s in some instances.  Resin ribbons offer excellent print quality at high speeds. Extreme durability against solvents and abrasions. Extensive label adaptability expanding application options. UL Recognized.
